How Botox Works
Botox prevents the neurotransmitters in your muscle tissue from receiving signals. The muscle connected to the particular neurotransmitter remains in a relaxed state, and is unable to contract when a signal is received. This is why you cannot move the muscle while under the effect of Botox, even if you try.
Botox not only prevents current wrinkles, but also prevents future wrinkles as your skin does not develop fold lines from wrinkling hundreds of times each day/week. This is why Botox is considered to be a preventative measure as well as a corrective measure.
Botox takes 3-4 days to begin to work, and 7-14 days to take full effect, and will create a much more youthful appearance. Men and women can both benefit from Botox treatment, as you can see the difference it makes in a man’s brow lines below. There is a considerable difference in wrinkles and depth after a single Botox treatment.
We never use more Botox than you need, and we can always do a touch-up if necessary. Remember, it’s better to come back for a touch-up than pay for Botox you don’t need
What to Expect at your Appointment
Your Botox appointment will begin with a consultation, during which you will discuss your goals and concerns with us.
After we discuss your goals, you will approve an injection plan and we can perform the injections right away. The actual injections only take about 5-10 minutes, and the needle is so small that you may not even feel it.
After injections, you may immediately return to your normal activities, with the exception that we recommend you not lie down or perform strenuous activity for 4 hours.
Then you just wait for the amazing results to kick in!
