Dr. Banker will discuss your procedure options with you and will work with you to make sure your needs are met. We’ll talk about what to do before surgery, and what you can expect on the day of your augmentation. There is no one-size-fits-all answer for augmentation, as each patient has unique goals and each case is very different.

Saline implants are a bit less expensive than silicone, and are slightly more common for that reason. Saline implants are inserted empty, and filled with saline solution after placement, so they require a smaller incision than a similar size silicone implant. Saline gives a natural feel, and comes in virtually any size and profile. Saline and silicone are both completely safe.

Silicone gives a slightly more natural feel because it is closer in density and texture to your own body tissue. This is most important for patients with less natural breast tissue. Silicone implants are a bit more expensive, but come with free Botox or Latisse for both you and a friend.

Gummy Bear implants are a nickname given to the newest generation of highly-cohesive silicone implants, and offer a bit more firmness.

They were originally used for reconstruction, but are now offered in all sizes for augmentation. Gummy Bear implants can eliminate the rippling or folding that may occur with some patients using large implants due to the firmer texture.

Awake Breast Augmentation gives you an alternative to general anesthesia for your breast augmentation procedure. Through the use of local anesthesia (sometimes called “twilight anesthesia”), we can reduce the cost, recovery time, discomfort, and risk normally associated with traditional breast augmentation procedures.

This type of anesthesia is common for many other types of surgeries, and it is now common to place implants without “going under” or having to go to a hospital. Don’t worry, you won’t see or hear anything unless you want to.

Your procedure will last 1-2 hours, and is a very simple surgery. The implant is placed between the breast muscle and the breast plate, in what is referred to as a sub-pectoral or “under the muscle” placement. After it is placed, the implant is filled to the selected size (if saline) and sealed. The small incision used for the surgery is then sutured.

You’ll need to wear a compression top for 1-2 weeks, and we will provide one that is custom fit for your body and augmentation. This ensures that you do not have fluid build-up around the implant, and that that implant pocket can heal properly. It’s fine to take it off for showers or short periods, but we encourage you to use it as much as you can.

Each patient is unique, and your outcome may vary from that of another patient with similar measurements and implant size for many reasons. It is better to have an idea of the general look or style that you like, as opposed to copying the implant choice of someone similar in size.

Don’t worry about the patient stats or implant size when looking at pictures. A 400cc implant is huge on a patient that is 5′ tall, but small on a patient that is 6′ tall, so don’t get caught up in the numbers. You just want an idea of the kind of height and projection that would be your ideal outcome.
